Biography

Dr. Richard Alan Finkelstein a Professor of Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology in University of Missouri,US. Dr.Richard has completed his studies in Microbiology from University of Oklahoma, Norman. Then he did his Phd in "Nutrition of Vibrio cholerae;" Supervising Professor, Charles E. Lankford from University of Texas, Austin .Then he served as Associate Professor in Department of Microbiology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas and serves as professor in university of Missouri. He served as Diplomate Fellow Member in American Board of Microbiology , American Academy of Microbiology; Infectious Diseases Society of America and other various societies.

Research Area

Pathogenesis and immunology of cholera; enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli; cholera toxin-related family of enterotoxins; endotoxin; non-specific resistance mechanisms; staphylococci; pathogenesis and immunology of gonorrhea; melioidosis; role of iron in microbial-host interactions; antimicrobial activity of human and bovine milk; colonial opacity phase variation in choleragenic vibrios, O1 and O139; choleraphage and V. cholerae territoriality; bacteriocins (“choleracins”) of V. cholerae; V. cholerae adherence mechanisms and vaccine development.
